Driven by my emotions stirred by deep reflection on personal experiences, especially those shared by black women. I seeks to challenge the expectations and stereotypes experienced by black women, question the limitations of identity, and create a space for personal expression. I employs the impasto technique to delve into the complexities of the female experience, an experience layered with strength, vulnerability, resilience, and passion. These figures are unapologetic women whose facial expressions and body language are un-detailed yet speak volumes about our personal and collective life experiences in the quest for self-acceptance. Just as the impasto textures build up the surface of the canvas, women build upon their experiences, histories, and emotions to shape who they are. Through this focus, I invite the viewers to embrace our uniqueness and develop confidence in recognising and celebrating women's collective and personal growth and self-discovery.
